Siri now helps you shop (for Apple products, of course)

2 hrs.

Thanks to an updated version of the Apple Store app, Siri?? the virtual assistant built into iOS?? can now help?you shop for Apple products. Thankfully, she won't actually place any orders on your behalf.

Since iOS 6, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system, gave Siri the ability to launch apps, many have been updated to support the personal assistant. Now Apple's own App Store app joins the growing list of those with Siri-support.

All you have to do is ask Siri something along the lines of "How much is an iPad Mini?" or tell her "I want a new iPhone" and she will open the Apple Store app to the appropriate shopping category. (Curiously enough, a simple "I need a new phone" will leave Siri offering to search the Web. Guess she's not as big an Apple fangirl as some.)

Along with the Siri?support, the most recent version of the Apple Store app also?allows you to purchase new gift cards and email them to a?recipient?directly from the app. And of course, gift cards can be pulled into Passbook, the Apple-made?app that organizes?boarding passes, coupons, gift cards, show?tickets and more.
